Marlon Brando

by Ferdie Werdie

GAZETTE (July 14) – In my opinion, Marlon Brando is one of the great actors in Hollywood history. I always thought that he was of Italian ancestry. No!

I looked him up recently while I was watching A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE on cable. His ancestry was mostly German, Dutch, English and Irish. That is so surprising to me.

Turned down THE GODFATHER Oscar b/c of poor Native American portrayal and treatment by Hollywood and the U.S.

Marlon won best actor Oscars for ON THE WATERFRONT and A DRY WHITE SEASON. He won again for THE GODFATHER, but turned it down for how badly the United States treats Native Americans (Indians) historically and on film.

Marlon Brando was named the fourth greatest male star whose screen debut occurred before or during 1950 by the American Film Institute.

FANTASY FOOTBALL DRAFT

DELERYGAZETTE (July 12) – I set our YAHOO Fantasy Football draft for 12:15pm Sunday, Aug. 14. My ESPN league draft was already set for 12:15pm Saturday, Aug. 13.

Good luck teams! Aida ElSayed won my YAHOO Superstars Super Bowl last year. By the way, she made the Super Bowl in both of my leagues last year; runner-up to Ken Sabathia in my ESPN league.

One of my favorite coaches might return to coaching in 2023.
