My Kentucky Derby Bet

Are y’all wondering how I made out over the weekend with my Kentucky Derby wagers. Well, I will put it like this, I AM ONE HAPPY MOTOR SCOOTER. Ummmm… I am about to go off, lie down in my bed and start throwing some of my money up in the air.

Yes!! You can see here in the below photograph (however, on another occasion) that I am one happy dude. I need to toast today May 7th. The number “7” is a blessed number. That is one of my lucky numbers. Number 13 is another one of my lucky numbers. Today’s Kentucky Derby winner, Nyguist, was #13 in the race. I almost knew that I was going to win. Those are two of my daughters with me in the picture.

shut up

Why is my mouth always moving?

Look at the surprise notification that I received last night from Twitter:

Stirred Not Shaken Controversy

#JamesBond’s famous tag line is actually a reversal of the original quote from Fleming’s books. The author used the line “stirred not shaken” to add yet another facet to Bond’s cool image. If a Martini is shaken, the alcohol becomes “bruised” which detracts from the desired flavour – something which agent 007 would of course immediately notice and be suitably repulsed by. It was decided that the line “shaken not stirred” sounded much better, however, and so was adopted for the film – thus creating a character with a good collection of sound bytes, but a slightly odd taste in drinks.

Make Your Own Olive Brine

Since olive juice is my favorite flavor in a martini, I plan to follow the below article by Colleen Graham (Cocktails Expert) about making my own olive juice or brine (as “they” call it). In fact, I planted an olive seed in my backyard in case, by some miracle, I might grow it into a tree. Read the article if you are interested:

If your local market has an olive bar filled with gourmet olives, use them to make your own olive brine. It is very easy and you can use your own selection of olives, even adding a variety to a single jar.

The best part of this is that you can control the juice, making it exactly the way you want. It can save the die-hard Dirty Martini drinker a considerable amount of money. You also get a custom choice of olives for garnishing all of your Martinis!

2 cups green olives
2 cups water
1/2 cup dry vermouth
2 Tablespoons vinegar
2 Tablespoons salt
Method:

Place the olives in a glass jar with a tight-sealing lid (recycle an old olive jar!).
Gently press the olives with the back of a wooden spoon firmly enough to release their juice.
In a separate bowl, combine the other ingredients and mix well.
Pour the liquid over the olives until they are completely covered. Leave a little room for air at the top of the jar.
Seal the jar and shake it vigorously.
Refrigerate for at least one day (longer is better) and shake before using the juice.
If your juice gets a little low for the olives left in the jar, add more vermouth and give the mix a good shake.

Of course, if you are lucky enough to have your own olive tree, nothing beats fresh olives. In order to make them edible, curing is required. Use these tips for brining fresh olives.

Is there a crack in the freeze of the Republicans in Congress to ignore President Barak Obama’s Supreme Court nomination? Probably not a huge movement, but my opinion is that the Republicans need to do their job and seat a new justice on the Supreme Court.

Happy Mardi Gras, Y’all

While they were voting in New Hampshire on Tuesday, we were celebrating Fat Tuesday in New Orleans. Happy Mardi Gras! Here is a video of my grandson, lil’ Vaughn, marching in the Iris parade in New Orleans on Saturday and playing his trombone. UPDATE: I temporarily replaced my grandson’s video with this explanation video below because the server might have placed the trombone video in a different privacy mode. Sorry! By the way, I made this video early in the morning. I did not have time to put all of my teeth and dentures in, plus I was tired. Please do not judge me for looking rough, etc. here because I rushed to put this video out.

What a beautiful day! This next photo below was actually taken last weekend again waiting to see lil’ Vaughn march. I missed taking a picture then too because circumstances messed me around that day also. I had a grand ol’ time anyway. I am not too sure how I am going to make out during the rest of Mardi Gras. I know that today I am aggravated, disgusted, cold and totally mad with the world. Tomorrow might be better, however. Like they say, Tomorrow is another day. “The morning might bring joy,” saith the Lord. I need to look up that passage because I think that the Lord said that the morning WILL bring joy and light.

Mardi_gras16

A GRAND COMPLIMENT: Several of my relatives and “friends” have occasionally indicted me of being guilty of talking too much. However, someone with insight said something about me that reached deep into my core. Wonderful!

To understand me you need to realize that I actually visualize myself more like a fox. I said, “Thank you, Terry.” Why? Because several of my relatives and friends have erroneously indicted me of being guilty of talking too much. I think that these are the ones who become upset if I try to open my mouth at all. They become upset because they fear that I might use up any time at all with which they can rule/manipulate the universe. There is a word for this: narcissistic, maybe?

Moving on to another interesting subject, I read last night the link Celebrities Who Are Part Black which lists several historical figures who we did not know were mixed with black blood. I was surprised to read that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was mixed with black blood. I had already read about former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover who also was mixed with black blood. What was so interesting about Hoover is that he had a hatred for black people, and ran a campaign to discredit Martin Luther King. This reminds me so much of Adolf Hitler who had a hidden Jewish heritage, but hated Jews; and slaughtered millions of Jews in the holocaust death camps during World War II.

Speaking of the primaries, I predict that Donald Trump will win the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday. I was 100% correct in my prediction of the Iowa caucuses. I also, right here right now, want to give some love this very minute to all of the strong women of the world. Oh yeah, and Happy pre-Valentine! Hahaha… Yeah, I remembered.

super_girl

Also, look at who made my day on Mardi Gras and also liked my reply to her tweet.

My fine Make A Deal girl, Tiffany Coyne

Do you see the 1 “like” next to the heart on my tweet to Tiffany (as of this writing)? Well, that is Tiffany Coyne who liked my tweet. She has responded before to several of my tweets. Valentine’s Day is on Sunday, and I guarantee y’all that I will send a Valentine tweet to Tiffany.

I think that I get the point of the below tweet. Is Hillary looking at what I think she is looking at? Plus, who is the girl? She looks like a cutie pie to me. I plan to study the tweet a little bit further in order to find out who the young lady is.

The Donald has received so much media coverage that he has to spend little money on his campaign. I think that this is more luck on his part than planning. He is just fortuitous with how the media has deluged the public with publicity on him.

Donald Trump Loses

WE THE PEOPLE!! My thoughts back on December 28 about Donald Trump leading the polls were: With the primaries around the corner, I have decided to follow Donald Trump on Twitter. The very first ‪#‎real‬, hard copy vote of the 2016 race will be cast in Iowa on February 1. Then, we have primaries in New Hampshire and S. Carolina. Only then is any vote actually real. What Tiffany Coyne Liked

Twitter sent this notification to Ferdie Werdie:
Tiffany Coyne
liked your Tweet, Ferdie Werdie,”
said Twitter.

Which reminds me of how in the bible
it always says, “Thus, saith the Lord.”
For instance, “You of little faith,
why did you doubt?”… saith the Lord.
I just LOVE the words of the Lord.
“Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid,”
saith Jesus, the Lord.

Yes, Delery Gazette @Ferd3desk tweeted, and #TiffanyCoyne liked it:

@TiffanyCoyne >>You looked very pretty on today’s show. I wrote so on my blog: goo.gl/TkjkCx

Gazette @Ferd3desk returned some love to Tiffany by #liking her picture. What’s not to like, huh?

I also just wanted to say what I have been doing since someone else won the $1.5 billion in the Powerball drawing last weekend. I was actually scared to win that much money. However, I am driving on since then delving into other areas.

I am so happy to have received a response from Tiffany Coyne that I am tooting on my horn.

This is Ferdie prepping for Mardi Gras.

Here (in the below video) I am performing an R&B standard which I taped for my brother Carl. More recently, I have performed some of my songs at open-mike night uptown at The Neutral Ground Cafe, testing the waters as #they say. (cont)… tl.gd/n_1so6m

@Dahlia Derriere too looks very pretty here on this boat. I also wrote some love to her post: Dahlia Derriere …Subsequently, it looks like she left space with my name on her boat for me. I guess (as they say), Only In My Dreams. Aren’t I allowed to wish?

I saved some room for you, Ferdie Werdie honey

A friend of my brother and mine does comedy at open-mike night at The Neutral Ground Cafe occasionally which gave me the idea of putting together 15 minutes of #comedy to try. However, I am hesitant about comedy because it is too easy to #bomb horribly with comedy.

Now that Sarah Palin has endorsed Donald Trump I think that everything is well-in-hand.

How to Install a Doorbell

Homeowners with even a modest skill set in home improvement can add a touch of elegance to their home by installing a single button doorbell.

Source: How to Install a Single Button Doorbell | DoItYourself.com

Homeowners with even a modest skill set in home improvement can add a touch of elegance to their home by installing a single button doorbell. Aside from the added charm, the pleasant sound of a doorbell will beat out a sharp knock every time. Although today’s sophisticated doorbells offer sounds ranging from a simple “ding dong” to a custom tune, installation has not changed much over the years. Most hardwired doorbell systems utilize a transformer that converts your home’s 120 volt AC current to a much lower voltage between 8 and 24 volts. This article will focus on the installation of a simple, single button doorbell equipped with a transformer, chime, and applicable wiring.
Step 1 – Locate a Power Source
It’s common to place the doorbell’s transformer in the attic and connect it to an existing power source such as a ceiling light box or an attic outlet. In short, the transformer must be connected to an existing 120 volt power supply in the attic such as a ceiling light box. Use the voltage meter to verify that the connecting circuit has continuous power and is not operated by a switch, which would render your doorbell inoperative when in the ‘off” position.
Step 2 – Turn Off the Power
It’s essential that you turn off the power to the applicable circuit that will power the transformer. Using the voltage meter, verify that the power to the electrical ceiling box or outlet is indeed off. Connect the wires from the transformer — black, white, and green — to the corresponding wires in the electrical box by twisting each one together and securing them with wire nuts.

Step 3 – Run the Two-stranded Wire
Most doorbell manufacturers include the necessary wire in a doorbell installation kit. There should be two lengths of wire included in the kit, one two-stranded and one three-stranded length.
The two-strand length of wire traverses between the doorbell button and the transformer. As such, you will need to run this wire from the location of the transformer in the attic and down the wall that will support the button. You may find it necessary to drill a couple of holes and use a fish tape to snake the wire down the wall to the button location.
Step 4 – Run the Three-stranded Wire
Run the three-stranded wire from the chime to the location of the transformer. You may find it necessary to drill additional holes and use the fish tape as mentioned above.
Step 5 – Mount the Bell or Chime
Position the chime in the desired location on the wall and plumb with a small level. Using a pencil, lightly mark the location of the mounting holes on the wall. Affix the chime to the wall using plastic anchors, toggle bolts, or similar wall anchors. Often, manufacturers include them with a doorbell kit. The type of wall surface — drywall, masonry, or wood — will dictate the type of anchor required. Drill applicable sized holes in the wall at the mounting hole locations and use the applicable type screws to secure the chime to the wall. It is important to remember to make sure to fish the door chime wire installed earlier through the back of the chime before securing it to the wall.
Step 6 – Connect the Chime Wires
A doorbell system requires that it be wired correctly to function properly. It is important to note the manufacturer’s wiring instructions should supersede those mentioned here. Most single button installation kits are manufactured with the option of adding a second button for another entrance in the future as a convenience. As such, the chime is supportive of two buttons, hence the three wires. Whether or not you are using a second button, it is a good idea to wire the chime accordingly. Three terminals on the chime are labeled F, T, and B, which represent the front door, back door, and transformer.
Remove the outer sheathing from the three-stranded wire and strip about a 1/2 inch from the ends of each wire using a pair of wire strippers. Loop the black wire around the T terminal, the red wire to F terminal, and the white wire to the B terminal and tighten the terminal screws using a screwdriver. Install the chime cover to complete installation of the door chime.
Step 7 – Connect the Door Bell
Remove the outer sheathing of the two-stranded doorbell wire to expose a red and white inner wire. Strip about 1/2-inch from the ends of each wire. Secure the white wire to the top terminal and the red wire to the bottom terminal located on the back of the doorbell button. It is a good idea to caulk around the wire where it extends from the jamb or wall with some silicone or latex caulking. Affix the doorbell to the jamb or wall using the applicable mounting screws.
Step 8 – Wire the Transformer
At the transformer, remove the outer sheathing from both the two-stranded wire connected to the doorbell and the three-stranded wire connected to the door chime. Strip about a 1/2 inch from the ends of each wire using the wire strippers. Connect the wires according to the following sequence:
• Twist together the red wire from the chime to the red wire from the doorbell wire and secure them together using a wire nut.
• Loop the black wire from the chime around one of the terminals on the transformer.
• Loop the white wire from the doorbell button around the remaining terminal on the transformer.
• Cap the remaining white wire from the chime with a wire nut.
Tighten the terminal screws on the transformer, restore power to the circuit feeding the transformer, and test the doorbell.

Powerball Blew Up On Twitter

I got onto Twitter only briefly after the Powerball drawing last night. I signed in to see the winning numbers and if anyone had won. WOW!!! An avalanche of tweets were beginning to pour in. I only got in long enough to see that my dreams of the Bahamas and bringing in twenty Tahitian virgins to run my hotels were quickly dashed. The perfect storm was blowing into Twitterville. After briefly clicking onto the hashtags #Powerball and #PowerballWinner, I was blanketed in a big freeze. I guess that Twitter must have been hit with a huge, record-setting amount of activity. I could not get back onto Twitter until I woke up this morning.

bt

Bahama time, Ferdie Werdie. I thought you were coming, honey! I’m waiting.

I also heard that sometimes you do not really want that big pay day as much as you think. I have loved the last seven years with Barack Obama, but look at what the last seven years have done to Barack. He won the biggest prize seven years ago, but those seven years laid a lot of burdens on our POTUS.

Super Bowl Weekend

I don’t know about y’all, but I am ready for Super Bowl weekend. UPDATE: Since I posted the Wild Card schedule a few weeks ago, we are now heading toward Super Bowl weekend which has the Carolina Panthers meeting the Denver Broncos. Both teams were the number 1 seeds in their conference. So, this should be an excellent Super Bowl. I do not know what is coming up this weekend; I just know that I am looking forward to some football. Here is the Wild Card Schedule:

https://twitter.com/506sports/status/683872114332569600

And then… what is going to happen to coach Sean Payton in the future? Where will he coach next season? UPDATE: Coach Payton held a press conference on January 6th to announce that he is staying in New Orleans. Thank God!!

NOTE: I am currently writing a story about the time I slapped the wig off of the head of one of my managers at work. The hearing panel in my case subsequently gave me three choices that I had if I wanted to keep my job. I will publish the story here soon about the choice that I made. You will enjoy it.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints have ended the season by giving us some hope for next year. The Saints put up some pictures from this seasons’s last game. In fact there is talk that this might be coach Sean Payton’s last game as a Saint.

https://twitter.com/Saints/status/684004813139488769/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

UPDATE: I do not know why I missed Sean Payton’s interview yesterday, but I am reading early this morning (1/7/16/em<) that Payton has decided to stay. I was not ready for Payton to depart, and thus have a whole-sale makeover of the team. Thank you, coach Payton for staying longer. Now, let's address your stubborn, pig-headed use of running-back Mark Ingram whom I would only use in situational circumstances. My starter would be Tim Hightower; or even draft a new big-name running back. Come on, Payton, wake up about Ingram.

https://twitter.com/Nola_SaintsFans/status/684862338172731392

More on Mark Ingram below because the team played more vibrantly and looked better once Ingram was hurt at the end of the season, and missed the last games.

Where was I? What did I do for my birthday?

paula pound

Ferdie Werdie, honey, where are you?

Yes, where was I? Often on my birthday, friends and loved ones have to put out an APB in order to find me. I like to hide away for my birthday because my new age always hits me hard. Last week I said, I might drive to the Gulf Coast to the edge of the world in order to hide out. I can lie on the beach #InMourning until this #Hamlet tragedy (my birthday) passes. UPDATE: I will post a video of what I did on the night of my birthday. Coming soon! You will like it.

I also said, “It took everything that I had in me to get through Christmas, and now here comes this Shakespearian tragedy (my birthday). I am drained from all the Christmas gloom and doom of the last two days. I am needing the #HappyNewYear!! Meanwhile, on my birthday I feel like it is THE END!!” Thus, I sang these words.

And now, the #END is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I’ll say it clear
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain
I’ve lived a life that’s full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this, I did it… MY WAY.

I want to say this to Anne Hathaway: You geaux, girl!! I love the picture.

I am seen here with my brother’s son at his cousin’s graduation in 2014. Last month, I talked with him at a Christmas Eve party while he was in town. He and I spoke for a long time.

I am very happy that Herman Cain posted the below tweet. Why in the heck do you, POTUS (Barak Hussein Obama), want to throw people further into the IRS trap when you claim that your law is written to help people? It is nonsensical to me.

The Morn After Christmas

1 ‘Twas the morn after Christmas, when all thro’ the house,
2 Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
3 The food is all eaten and my stomach is round,
4 I’m glad that St. Nicholas is no longer aground;
5 I am now nestled all snug in my bed,
6 While visions of women are filling my head.
7 LOL.. That’s enuff for now, you get my drift.
8 I’m like the Grinch, I got no gift.
